It was a successful night for KR Actors at the Auckland Theatre Awards on Monday. RUTENE SPOONER took home an Excellence in Performance award for ‘Super HUGH-Man’, BRONWYN ENSOR won an Outstanding Newcomer Award (you should see her CV, I don’t know how she has fit so many productions in this year), and the Excellence in Adaptation award went to ‘E Kore A Muri E Hokia’ (Mo & Jess Kill Susie) directed by TAINUI TUKIWAHO, produced by AMBER CURREEN and starring KRYSTAL-LEE BROWN and ASCIA MAYBURY. Congratulations to everyone.

Tis the season to be GORY!

Funded by NZ on Air and Google as part of the Skip Ahead initiative, Ao-terror-oa is a new anthology of short horror films linked by one element – Kiwiana. The series is the brainchild of our talented HWEILING OW, creator of numerous short horrors.

Check out the 6 short films as they are released over the next 6 weeks. I’m sure you’ll see more than a few familiar faces.

Disney’s latest visual masterpiece ‘Moana’ opened in NZ cinemas this week and we are so proud of our girl RACHEL HOUSE who plays the voice of Moana’s eccentric grandmother ‘Gramma Tala’.

With the announcement from Starz that ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ has the green light for a third season, it looks like we are in for another year of outrageous blood and gore.

Congratulations to all of our actors for their hard work in season two including series regular STEPHEN LOVATT as Sheriff Thomas Emery, ALISON QUIGAN, CAMPBELL COOLEY, JATINDER SINGH and KAYLEIGH HAWORTH.

A huge congratulations to the cast of Billy Elliot who just closed their wildly successful, 2 month season at the brand-spanking new ASB Waterfront Theatre.

What a year this has been for Auckland Theatre Company. We eagerly look forward to what the future brings for the landscape of theatre and the arts in New Zealand with addition of this beautiful and innovative space.
